Assistant Instructor & Open Water Scuba Instructor

You’ve come a long way since you were taking your first breaths underwater.  Think back to how exciting and new the sport was for you and how you got hooked into the wonderful world of Scuba.

Scuba instructors have the power to change lives and represent one of the greatest diversions we know.  Your PADI Assistant  Instructor & Open Water Scuba Instructor program, coupled with a successful Instructor Examination,  are your first steps towards being able to teach scuba diving to others as well as attain the prestigious PADI rating of Open Water Scuba Instructor.

Candidates for this professional rating receive training in PADI standards, procedures, philosophies, and teaching methods.

You will be evaluated in the areas of practical teaching ability, watermanship, diving knowledge, attitude and professionalism.  As a PADI Divemaster you have demonstrated the skills required to be a competent and responsible diver.

How to Prepare:

There are numerous manuals that are available for you to read and study.  We will focus primarily on the PADI Open Water manual, Advanced manual, instructor manual and IDC workbook.  You should familiarize yourself with each of these as well as their respective videos.  Also you will need to be proficient in all areas of the PADI Diving Knowledge Workbook that corresponds with the PADI Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving.

Please complete the knowledge development sections in your IDC workbook before coming to class.  Also,  the more time you spend assisting with classes as a Divemaster the better off you will be. Remember, upon completion of the OWSI  you will need to have at least 100 logged dives to enroll in your IE.

We wish you the best of luck with your AI/OWSI/IE.  As an Assistant Instructor or Open Water Scuba Instructor you will be able to teach a wide range of PADI programs from Discover Scuba right up through Divemaster worldwide.  The need for Scuba Instructors globally has never been greater and we look forward to helping you complete your goals.  Soon you will be getting paid for something you truly enjoy and having fun doing it!
