DiveMaster

To become a PADI Certified Divemaster, an individual must be prepared to assume responsibility and take a leadership role. The responsibility is considerable and the course is designed for the serious diver only. The rewards of being a Divemaster in terms of personal satisfaction and achievement are unparalleled.

PREREQUISITES:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Certified PADI Rescue Diver
  • Have a minimum of 20 logged dives upon enrollment and 60 logged dives upon certification
  • Submit an approved diving medical exam signed by a physician

COURSE STRUCTURE:

We take great pride in our Divemaster program as well as our Divemaster Candidates. Our program is well thought out to maximize time and provide our candidates with the best higher education possible. The course consists of 3 separate areas of coverage plus the DAN o2 Oxygen Provider Course.

Each candidate will complete the following five instructor lecture sessions as well as the eight required exams that correspond respectively.
  1. Dive Planning, Management, & Supervision
  2. Dive Equipment
  3. Recreational Dive Planner & the Wheel
  4. Physics
  5. Physiology

WATER AND SKILLS ASSESSMENT:

Each candidate will complete three pool evaluation sessions with an instructor as follows.
  1. Equipment exchange and skill circuit evaluation.
  2. Float, tired diver tow, & 400 yd swim tests.
  3. Rescue scenario & 800 yd snorkel swims.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION:

This involves a hands on role where the candidate will serve as instructional assistant to a PADI instructor. The objectives are to gain familiarity with the diver-training process, develop an awareness of typical student problems, and learn how to control and supervise diving activities in general. The internship consists of three parts outlined below. Schedules for class & pool sessions as well as open water are always available.
  1. Assist with five open water weekends.
  2. Assist with five full classroom & pool sessions.
  3. Design and layout an open water site plan as well as a site specific emergency plan.
COURSE FEE: $450.00/PERSON
